QuickBooks announced this month that the company’s current billing service, QuickBooks Billing Solutions, will be discontinued in June 2015. The service, which provides QuickBooks users with a way to send invoices to a centralized mail center, will be replaced by a new service called eInvoicing. The new service will not help QuickBooks customers send paper invoices through the mail.
Although QuickBooks Billing Solutions will be discontinued at the end of June, the digital bookkeeping company recommends that all users stop utilizing the service as quickly as possible. Current users have been asked to download their important payment histories and move over to the new system by upgrading to QuickBooks 2015.
On the company website, QuickBooks stated: “Ending support for a feature is not a decision we take lightly and we apologize for the inconvenience. We are confident the new eInvoicing solution will meet your invoice billing needs.”
What is QuickBooks Billing Solutions?
QuickBooks Billing Solutions allowed QuickBooks users to digitally send their invoices to a mail center that printed, processed, and mailed their statements to customers each month. The paid service mailed the invoices one to two days after receiving the invoice information. Each invoice included a remittance tear-off and a return envelope, while each statement was customized with the business’ template and logo.
This service, which was paired with optional email invoicing and email reminders, allowed users to mail a single invoice or a large batch of invoices, according to their needs.
QuickBooks Billing Solutions Discontinuation Timeline
- June 30, 2015: QuickBooks Billing Solutions will be officially discontinued. You will no longer have the ability to send invoices through this system. QuickBooks will also stop billing for this service.
- August 31, 2015: Your customers may no longer pay their outstanding invoices through this service. You will no longer be able to download customer payments.
- September 1, 2015: Your customers will no longer be able to access their invoice payment history.
The Future of Printing & Mailing QuickBooks Invoices
While QuickBooks claims on its website that their users will not miss the discontinued features associated with QuickBooks Billing Solutions, we have already heard from small business owners who disagree. Many businesses still wish to send out paper invoices and statements each month and do not wish to move to a completely online invoicing system. After June 30, these business owners will need to find a new way to quickly, accurately, and efficiently mail their invoices without QuickBook’s help.
